Conductor Fuad Ibrahimov

He began his studies at the Baku Music Academy at the age of 15, and by the age of 32 he was already principal conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the New Philharmonic in Munich: the award-winning conducting star from Azerbaijan is in great demand internationally and has already been able to conduct concerts with greats such as Anna Netrebko.

Conducting star from Azerbaijan

Fuad Ibrahimov is Principal conductor of New Philharmonic Orchestra of Munich and Principal conductor of Baku Chamber Orchestra. In 2024, he is appointed music director of the State Symphony Orchestra of Azerbaijan.

Fuad Ibrahimov has performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (England), North Czech Philharmonic, MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig, the Staatskapelle Halle, the Göttingen and the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonia Varsovia, Kremerata Baltica, Kronberg Academy, Ensemble Moderne, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Santa Cecilia Classical Orchestra, and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. He has also conducted the "Das kritische Orchester Berlin®" whose musicians are drawn from the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Staatskapelle Berlin, Staatskapelle Dresden, the South Westphalian Philharmonic (Germany), and other leading orchestras. In 2012 he took over his first independent opera production with the Gürzenich Orchestra (Germany) at the Cologne Opera as a guest conductor. In June 2011, he was invited by Maestro Fabio Luisi to the “Pacific Music Festival” in Japan.

In 2006 Ibrahimov began his conducting studies with Prof. Michael Luig at the Cologne Academy of Music, and from 2008 he was music director of the student symphony orchestra “Sinfonietta”, based in Cologne. In 2010 he was awarded a special prize by DAAD, recognising highly talented foreign students.

In 1998 he joined the viola class of Prof. B. Mehdiyev at the Baku Music Academy, while simultaneously enrolling at the Cologne Academy of Music (Germany) under Prof. Rainer Moog. During this time, Ibrahimov was awarded a scholarship by the “Friends of Azerbaijan Culture” Foundation, as well as the Dr. Carl Dörcken-Werner Richard Scholarship, and performed in many German cities under the auspices of the Yehudi Menuhin Charitable Foundation. In 2019, he won the “Golden Plane” prize awarded for culture by the First Lady of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Fuad Ibrahimov began his music studies at the age of 12, when he attended the specialized music school associated with the Baku Music Academy, Azerbaijan. There he enrolled in the class of Prof. Tofig Aslanov (1994-1998), and later was a member of the youth string orchestra, “Tutti”, conducted by Teymur Geokchayev.
