About the artists

Gypsy Devils

original, fresh and virtuoso

The Gypsy Devils (Slovakian: Cigánski Diabli) stand for original, fresh and virtuoso works, new arrangements and unusual musical combinations. Traditional pieces are enriched with solo projects and also through collaborations with symphony and chamber orchestras and great artists. For example, the ensemble works with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Vienna String Quartet, Paul Gulda, Ramon Vargas and the Gypsy Kings.

The Gypsy Devils combine classical music pieces with other musical genres such as jazz, ethno, flamenco and gypsy. In doing so, they change the rhythms and harmonies and enrich everything with their extraordinary virtuosity, so that the pieces end up bearing the unique artistic signature of the Gypsy Devils.

Concert tours have already taken the ensemble to five continents and 35 countries. The Gypsy Devils have performed on the stages of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Royal Opera House in London, the Concert Hall Melbourne and the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein. Special performances have taken them to the EXPO Zaragoza (2008) and the EXPO Shanghai (2010) as well as to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver (2010) and the Summer Olympics in London (2012). The ensemble has also performed at festivals such as the Bad Kissinger Sommer, the Beethovenfest Bonn, the David Oistrach Festival Pärnu, the Liszt Festival Raiding, the Euroclassic Festival Pirmasens, the World Arts Festival Jeju, the Prague Spring Festival and the Silk Road International Arts Festival in Xi'an, China.
