The Czech mezzo-soprano Jolana Slavíková has established herself as an expressive interpreter of compelling operatic characters. With her warm, richly coloured voice, she brings to life a versatile repertoire ranging from Mozart roles such as Dorabella and Cherubino to Romantic characters including Olga and Suzuki, as well as major roles such as Carmen. Her international engagements have taken her to the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest, Opera Wrocław, the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Vilnius, and other leading European stages. In the 2025/26 season, she appeared as Carmen at the Lithuanian Opera in Vilnius and at Filharmonia Pomorska in Bydgoszcz, as Dorabella at the Opera on the Castle in Szczecin, and as Cherubino at the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec.
In the concert field, she has performed Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Thüringen Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Michael Hofstetter, as well as Dvořák’s Stabat Mater with the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK conducted by Alena Hron. In the 2026/27 season, she returns to the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest as Carmen. For her portrayals of Eva in Mysliveček’s Baroque opera Adamo ed Eva and Olga in Eugene Onegin, she was nominated for the prestigious Czech Thalia Award in 2024 and 2025. Other important roles in her repertoire include Isabella (L’Italiana in Algeri), Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Suza (Die polnische Hochzeit). A significant chapter in her career was her four-year engagement as a soloist with the Staatsoperette Dresden, where she performed, among others, Stasi (Die Csárdásfürstin) and Maria (West Side Story). Further guest engagements have taken her to the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, Theater Erfurt, Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse and Oper Frankfurt.
Jolana Slavíková is the recipient of numerous prizes at international singing competitions. At the Éva Marton International Singing Competition in Budapest in 2022, she received the President of Hungary’s Award for the best interpretation of a work by Liszt, along with further special prizes. She was a finalist at the International Vocal Competition ’s-Hertogenbosch, won second prize and the Thüringen Philharmonic Orchestra Award at the Gabriela Beňačková International Singing Competition in Jihlava, and is a winner of the Dušek Singing Competition in Prague. In 2019, she received the City of Salzburg Award at the Young Singers Project of the Salzburg Festival Summer Academy.
She completed her vocal studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main and the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar. She has participated in masterclasses with artists including Brigitte Fassbänder and Helmut Deutsch and is currently receiving vocal guidance from Christina Vasileva and Sami Kustaloglu.
