LEKO Quintet
Musicians from Ukraine, Turkey and Croatia come together under the direction of Lena Kovalchuk on drums. This brand new ensemble is inspired by the jazz tradition with all its facets and creative processes. The arrangements unfold colourfully and filter out the exciting and varied sounds of each individual band member.

An international soundscape of jazz tradition and Ukrainian folk music
The LEKO Quintet, led by Lena Kovalchuk on drums, proudly presents its fused melody reflecting the cultural diversity of the band members from Ukraine, Turkey and Croatia. This brand new ensemble, founded in November 2023 and consisting of talented students from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, is dedicated to the heritage of jazz and forms it with an innovative approach.
Inspired by the diversity of the jazz tradition, the LEKO Quintet unfolds colourful arrangements that artfully filter out the individual sounds of each member. A particular highlight of their repertoire is a new programme that presents Ukrainian folk music in special arrangements for their unique line-up. This innovative project demonstrates the creative fusion of different musical traditions and promises an impressive listening experience.
