Miriam Ahrer

Styrian-born Miriam Ahrer is an award-winning conductor. After studying in Graz, she has been leading choirs and ensembles since 2004, and has also directed mondo musicale since 2022. She is in international demand, active in music education, and strongly committed to the Styrian choral scene.

Born in Bruck an der Mur, Miriam Ahrer received her first musical training at the Bruck Music School. She studied choral conducting, orchestral conducting, and instrumental pedagogy with organ as her principal instrument at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, graduating with distinction in all degrees.

Since 2004, she has been conducting the choir and orchestra of the Frohnleiten parish. In 2022, she also took over as choir conductor of the renowned Graz ensemble mondo musicale, regularly leading concerts and liturgical performances with these groups.

Previously, Ahrer served as assistant conductor of the Styrian Youth Choir Cantanima (2004–2010), led the Singkreis Bruck/Mur (2008–2019), and conducted the vocal ensemble Accordare (2012–2024). In 2019, she was invited to direct the Youth Choir Austria, a national selection of talented young singers.

Alongside her artistic work, the versatile musician teaches at the Institute for Church Music in Graz, at the Frohnleiten Music School, and at numerous seminars throughout Austria. She also serves as Styrian regional choir director within the Styrian Choral Association, promoting the choral scene in Styria.
