...
Bass Philipp Schöllhorn received his first musical training as a member of the Vienna Boys’ Choir and subsequently studied voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 2018 he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in Henze’s The Bassarids.
A particular focus of his artistic work lies in concert and song repertoire. In 2020 he won First Prize at the Musica Juventutis competition, followed by another First Prize in 2021 at Elīna Garanča’s vocal competition ZukunftsStimmen. He later appeared alongside Garanča in the open-air concerts “Klassik unter Sternen” at Göttweig Abbey and “Klassik in den Alpen” in Kitzbühel.
For two seasons he was a member of the Opera Studio at the Salzburg Landestheater, where he performed roles such as Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Zuniga (Carmen), Nardo (La finta giardiniera) and Frank (Die Fledermaus). Guest engagements have taken him to the Theater an der Wien as Basilio and Fiorello in Il barbiere di Siviglia.
On the concert stage, Philipp Schöllhorn has sung, among others, the title role in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Haydn’s The Creation and The Seasons, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, the Requiems by Mozart and Dvořák, as well as several Mozart masses. In addition, he appeared at the charity gala “Austria for Life” in Schönbrunn and at the 2022 “Sommernacht der Marchfelder” at Schloss Hof. At the 2024 Salzburg Festival, he performed as one of the servants in a concert performance of Capriccio under the baton of Maestro Christian Thielemann.
