TROMBONIST AND COMPOSER WITH A LOVE OF POSTMODERNISM

The composer and trombonist Reinhard Summerer (born 1971 in Buchberg) is one of the most universal musicians of our time. He is a lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz as well as a teacher at the Johann-Joseph-Fux Conservatory. As a composer and arranger he devotes himself to various post-modern styles and has written over 1400 works in his busy career, which can be found on over 100 recordings and have been honored by national as well as international awards.

His musical collaborations with Patty Austin, Jon Hendricks, New York Voices, Take 6, Bob Mintzer, Ed Neumeister, Michael Abene, Bob Brookmeyer, John Hollenbeck, Theo Bleckmann and Kurt Elling have shaped his artistic career.

Various musical collaborations characterize his artistic career. Among others, he is a trombonist in the brass quintet STYRIAN BRASS, in Berndt Luef's Jazztet Forum Graz and since 2001 a permanent member of the Jazz Big Band Graz as well as the Jazzorchester Steiermark. Furthermore, he is the leader of his own R.S. BigBand, the Composers Ensemble and the brass section of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and he is the conductor of the brass orchestra of the Johann-Joseph-Fux Conservatory.
