About the artist

...

Sabine Radermacher studied musicology and Romance languages in Cologne and Florence. She began her career as an assistant director, stage manager, production manager and dramaturg at the opera houses of Heidelberg, Freiburg and Bonn, and worked with international festivals such as Klangbogen Vienna, Ruhrtriennale, the Salzburg Festival, the Schwetzingen Festival and the Ravenna Festival.

In parallel, she has been active as a writer, radio presenter and reporter, mainly for Westdeutscher Rundfunk and Deutschlandfunk, as well as for Radio Vaticana, Rai Radio3 and others. She contributes cultural journalism to publishers, magazines and festivals – including Bärenreiter, Merian, Opernwelt, Concerto, the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, Resonanzen Vienna, the Mozartfest Würzburg, the Händel Festivals in Göttingen and Halle, the Potsdam Music Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Stuttgart State Opera and the Elbphilharmonie. She also works as a specialist translator, particularly for opera libretti and surtitles.

From 2004 to 2025 she played a key role in shaping the artistic profile of the WDR’s “Tage Alter Musik” in Herne, serving as dramaturg of this renowned historically informed performance festival.

Her interests embrace music of all periods, with a particular passion for Italian and French music of the 17th and 18th centuries, opera in all its forms, and historical performance practice. She is committed to exploring meaningful connections between the sound worlds of the past and the lived experience of audiences today.

Sabine Radermacher lives near Cologne and in Rome.

In Styriarte 2027, Sabine Radermacher is the curator for early music at the Haus Styriarte.
