versatile singer, performer and musician

Matthias Liener was born in the Weinviertel region in 1991. At the age of eight, he joined the Wiener Sängerknaben, going on to perform in concerts across Europe, America and Asia. While completing his vocal studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 2019, he participated in a wide range of stage productions, including operetta, modern opera, spoken theatre, musicals, and pop shows.

His first engagements with the ensemble of the ‘Neue Oper Wien’ took Liener to the Teatro Sociale in Trento, the Bregenz Festival, the Palace of Arts in Budapest, and the Vienna Chamber Opera. He then performed as a soloist in music revues at the Melk Summer Festival, presented a solo spoken theatre piece entitled Marie at the Vienna Ateliertheater, and played the role of John Buffy in Die Blume von Hawaii at the Stadttheater Murau.

In 2023, he made guest appearances in over 40 performances of the cult operetta 'Im Weißen Rössl' in the leading role of head waiter Leopold Brandmayer at the Bernhard Theater in Zurich.

This versatile singer, performer and musician (who plays the piano, guitar and accordion) composes and produces German-language hits, as well as directing music videos. He tours with Pizzera & Jaus, among others, with the a cappella group Das wird Super.

He plays the lead role of Che in the musical Evita at the Felsenbühne Staatz.
