Nie könnte man die berühmte Stecknadel lauter fallen hören als in jenen kostbaren Momenten, in denen sich Markus Schirmer, Jahrgang 1963, an den Flügel setzt. Sein unerhört eloquentes und beredtes Klavierspiel hat ihn nicht nur zum Publikumsliebling seiner Heimatstadt Graz gemacht, sondern auch zu einem preisgekrönten Star auf den Podien der Welt.
Recreation is special in many ways: consisting of musicians whose nationalities range from Japan to Venezuela, most of the members received part of their training in Graz. After its formation in 2002, the collective played unique halls such as the Alte Oper Frankfurt and worked with outstanding conductors.
The conductor with Italian temperament was born in Rome and studied piano and chamber music there. Daniela Musca, who also completed studies in musicology and Italian literature, later moved to Berlin where she began her studies in orchestral conducting.
Not a football match, but a castling! Glass Marcano, young conducting star from Venezuela, had to cancel her Recreation-debut with Beethoven. She will be replaced in June by Daniela Musca from Rome, whose Recreations concert with Gershwin fell victim to the pandemic last February. Turbulent times! Markus Schirmer remains the rock at the keys.
