Art, translated into sound
Mei-Ann Chen loves the “big works”: Ravel’s orchestral version of Mussorgski’s Pictures at an Exhibition as a monumental sound painting at Stefaniensaal. The programme is all about art conveyed through music. Respighi reproduced Botticelli’s three most beautiful paintings in orchestral music. The American composer Reena Esmail dedicated her piece Teen Murti to the statues of three Hindu deities at Nehru’s former residence in New Delhi.
