Quadriga Consort

Shows

The Das Quadriga Consort, ein Ensemble der Styriarte, steht lächelnd vor einem Cembalo, mit Cello, Flöte, Fidel und Trommel. Quadriga Consort breathes new life into the long-forgotten music of the British Isles.

Programme

timelessly touching

For centuries, when darkness falls over the British Isles, stories have come to life that send shivers down the spine. Quadriga Consort breathes new life into these tales – with harpsichord, viols, recorders, percussion, and voice. The songs speak of cold nights, stormy winters, and survival in a harsh, barren landscape. Well-known folk ballads meet long-forgotten treasures from Ireland, Scotland, and England. In arrangements by Nikolaus Newerkla, they unfold with a unique intensity: archaic, moving, at times ghostly – and yet timelessly touching.

Programme

Songs of unrequited love, ballads of mysterious figures & eerie tales of transience
(The Undaunted Female, The Holland Handkerchief, Bessie Bell and Mary Gray, The Rich Old Lady, On a Cold Winter’s Day, The Standing Stones of Orkney, etc.)

The performance will last approximately 65 minutes without an interval.
