Springtime sounds in the Minoritensaal
When the birds awaken to their dawn chorus in spring, every composer pricks up their ears. Vivaldi captured their songs in the very first violin solo of his Spring. Bach dedicated the Badinerie from his B minor Suite for Flute to them. Telemann combined both instruments to dedicate a magnificent double concerto to spring in his “Tafelmusik”.
Recreation is special in many ways: consisting of musicians whose nationalities range from Japan to Venezuela, most of the members received part of their training in Graz. After its formation in 2002, the collective has played in unique halls such as the Alte Oper Frankfurt and has worked with outstanding conductors.
The violinist studied in Vienna, Salzburg and London and was particularly influenced by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. As a concertmaster and soloist, Maria Kubizek has been active with a wide variety of orchestras and formations, drawing her inspiration from projects that go beyond the normal concert setting.
