Shows

When the Queen of Sheba meets King Solomon, she is overwhelmed by his divine wisdom. Alfredo Bernardini von Styriarte vertieft sich in die Partitur, klassische Musik im Fokus. Alfredo Bernardini and his three singers recount this legendary encounter in two oratorios by the great masters Fux and Handel.

Content

perfect double pass

Fuxʼs earliest surviving oratorio and a late one by Handel share a common theme: the Queen of Sheba visits King Solomon. Her wealth is immeasurable, her desire to meet the wise king unquenchable. Handel depicted her arrival in one of his most vibrant orchestral pieces. Equally captivating are the arias in his oratorio Solomon, while Fux fully embraced the Italianate style for his Regina Saba. An ideal double bill for Alfredo Bernardini and his three fantastic solo voices.
