When the Queen of Sheba meets King Solomon, she is overwhelmed by his divine wisdom. Alfredo Bernardini von Styriarte vertieft sich in die Partitur, klassische Musik im Fokus. Alfredo Bernardini and his three singers recount this legendary encounter in two oratorios by the great masters Fux and Handel.

Das früheste erhaltene Oratorium von Fux und ein spätes Oratorium von Händel haben ein gemeinsames Thema: die Königin von Saba besucht König Salomon. Unermesslich ihr Reichtum, unstillbar ihr Verlangen, den weisen König kennenzulernen. Händel hat ihren Einzug in einem seiner vitalsten Orchesterstücke geschildert. Nicht minder eingängig sind die Arien in seinem Oratorium „Solomon“, während Fux in seiner „Regina Saba“ ganz dem italienischen Geschmack gehuldigt hat. Eine ideale Doppelvorlage für Alfredo Bernardini und seine drei fantastischen Solostimmen.

Maria Ladurner

Excellent stylistics and a brightly shining vocal sound are the qualities with which Maria Ladurner has rushed from success to success in the baroque and classical repertoire. In addition to guest appearances at numerous European houses, she also made her Styriarte debut in 2020 at the Festival opening with the leading role in J. J. Fux's "Gifts of the Night".

Valerio Contaldo

Born in Italy, he initially studied classical guitar before dedicating himself to singing at the Lausanne Conservatory. Our Styriarte visitors have already been able to experience the charismatic tenor at four Fux Opera Festivals. With opera roles and concert roles from Monteverdi to Frank Martin, Valerio Contaldo has delighted audiences from Tokyo to Aix-en-Provence.

Recreation - The Orchestra

Recreation is special in many ways: consisting of musicians whose nationalities range from Japan to Venezuela, most of the members received part of their training in Graz. After its formation in 2002, the collective has played in unique halls such as the Alte Oper Frankfurt and has worked with outstanding conductors.

Alfredo Bernardini

His incredibly lively and sonorous performing has made the Roman Alfredo Bernardini the leading baroque oboist of our time. As a soloist and conductor, he appears worldwide with top ensembles such as Hespèrion XXI or the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. His own ensemble Zefiro is also a celebrated public favourite at the Styriarte festival.
