A replay project

Am 9. November 1968 gab Oscar Peterson mit seinem Jazztrio im Wiener Konzerthaus ein unvergessliches Konzert, das vom ORF live im Radio übertragen wurde. Die Bänder gingen ins Archiv. Jetzt hat Kristina Miller sie wieder ausgegraben, hat die komplexen Improvisationen transkribiert und sie damit nachspielbar gemacht. Das Replay-Projekt war geboren und macht live auf der Bühne ein Klavierwunder des Jazz wieder lebendig.

The legendary concert by Oscar Peterson and the Oscar Peterson Trio on 9 November 1968 at the Vienna Konzerthaus, featuring Oscar Peterson’s improvisations on themes by Frank Churchill (Someday My Prince Will Come), Peter DeRose (The Lamp Is Low), Marcos Valle (Summer Samba), Leonard Bernstein (Somewhere), Leslie Bricusse & Anthony Newley (Who Can I Turn To), Nat Adderley (Never Say Yes), Duke Ellington (medley), and his own Hymn to Freedom.

Piano

Kristina Miller

Kristina Miller was born into a family of musicians in Moscow as a piano prodigy and, after only a short period of training, made her first appearances with an orchestra at the age of eight. The award-winning pianist, who won the Steinway Prize from Steinway & Sons in Munich in 2006, has toured across several continents, and her debut CD, released in 2008, has been broadcast several times on BBC Radio.

Double bass

Tibor Fonay

The highly sought-after bassist in the fields of jazz and contemporary music received his professional training at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary, where he completed his Master’s degree in Jazz Performance in 2013. In the same year, Tibor Fonay won first prize at the Orszáczky Jackie Bass Competition, marking the beginning of his international career as a live and studio musician.

Drums

Gergő Borlai

Based in Los Angeles and Barcelona, Hungarian drummer Gergő Borlai performs internationally as both a studio and live musician alongside world-renowned artists. He has appeared on more than 500 album recordings and has received numerous awards in his native Hungary, including the Jazz Album of the Year 2021 award. Since 2012, Borlai has served as a professor in the Jazz Department at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona.
