Morgendliche Wanderung

Gott Pan schnitzt sich seine Flöte aus dem Schilfrohr, in das sich die Nymphe Syrinx gerade verwandelt hat. Diesen Urmythos aller pastoralen Musik erzählt die Styriarte am Ort des Geschehens: im Schilf am Teich. Genau dort stellte sich auch Britten seine „Metamorphosen“ für Solo-Oboe vor – als Freiluftklang mitten in der Natur. Das Publikum wandert zu den magischen Orten, wo sich Wasser und Land, Musik und Mythos begegnen.

Maria Beatrice Cantelli

Flute

Many years of performing concerts have taken the Italian flutist to renowned venues throughout Europe. She is also a close friend of the Styriarte: she plays with the Styriarte Festival Orchestra, with Recreation – Das Orchester and on the transverse flute with the Recreation baroque ensemble.

Wolfgang Kornber­ger

clarinet

Wolfgang Kornberger’s roots of training lie in Eastern Styria. Later, the clarinetist studied with members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he now teaches himself. In addition to numerous engagements as an orchestral musician and tours through countries such as Korea, he has played the solo clarinet in the Styriarte Festival Orchestra since 2014.

Matthias Predota

Horn

Born in Eastern Styria, hornist Matthias Predota graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and studied Viennese horn at the Johann-Joseph-Fux Conservatory. As a substitute he has already played in leading orchestras in Austria, he is keen on chamber music and is engaged as solo hornist in the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ivan Calestani

bassoon

Born in Parma in 1974, the Italian began playing the bassoon at the local Conservatorio at the age of 13 and graduated with honors in 1995. Today Ivan Calestani lives and works in Vienna and has been working intensively with the baroque and classical bassoon for quite some time.

Some of the paths through the Pöllau Valley Nature Park are uphill.

There are longer distances to hike between the musical stations. The total walking time is 2 hours!

There is only very basic seating at the stations (sometimes only picnic blankets).

There is an opportunity to refresh yourself at the end of the walk.

The event will also take place in case of rain. Please remember to bring appropriate equipment.

As we are travelling in two very large groups, dogs are not permitted!

Coach transfer

We offer a coach transfer to our event in Pöllau. Departure at 06.15 am in front of the opera house, price EUR 22. Return journey after the concert.
