“singing voices”

According to pianist Ragna Schirmer from Halle, nobody who comes into contact with Schubert can escape the magic of his music. She performs in a space ideal for Schubert, the Chamber Music Hall at Congress Graz. When the young Chopin played Schubert’s piano works in Vienna, he started writing impromptus himself. When Liszt wrote his first piano arrangements for Schubert Lieder, it let him express his most intimate feelings. Ragna Schirmer transforms the music that came from deep within the souls of these three Romantic composers  into “singing voices” on her 1856 Blüthner grand.
