Insights into the Styriarte 2025 programme

239 days before the opening of the 40th anniversary Styriarte, we invite you to a glamorous tasting in the magnificent rooms of the baroque Palais Attems. How will Styriarte 2025 sound, a festival dedicated to the exploration of the exciting sound spaces of Styria?

The Graz-based ensemble Ārt House 17 and other Styriarte artists give an insight into the upcoming festival summer, and artistic director Mathis Huber reveals the highlights of the programme.

Ārt House 17

Ensemble

Diving deep into historical music and its history(ies): That is the mission of the young Graz-based ensemble Ārt House 17, for which Michael Hell and Georg Kroneis have brought together some of the best specialists in their field. Their repertoire ranges from Pergolesi to Mozart and Offenbach. The ensemble is currently establishing itself internationally and is celebrating huge successes at the Utrecht Early Music Festival, for example.

Dominik Wörner

Bassbariton

The brilliantly presented repertoire of German bass-baritone and church musician Dominik Wörner ranges from the Renaissance to modern times. As a sensitive master of large oratorio roles, the Palatinate Bach Prize winner also impresses with his overwhelming dedication to lieder singing.

Michael Hell

Direction, Harpsichord, Recorder

Michael Hell, born in North Rhine-Westphalia, is a virtuoso on both the recorder and the harpsichord whose reputation extends far beyond his adopted home of Graz. He is also a leading expert in basso continuo and historical performance practice, who knows how to convey the rules and history of his art with infectious enthusiasm.

Maria Beatrice Cantelli

Flute

Many years of performing concerts have taken the Italian flutist to renowned venues throughout Europe. She is also a close friend of the Styriarte: she plays with the Styriarte Festival Orchestra, with Recreation – Das Orchester and on the transverse flute with the Recreation baroque ensemble.

Mathis Huber

Programming director

Mathis Huber, 1958 in Graz geboren, studierte Oboe, Musikerziehung und Musikwissenschaft sowie Geschichte. Er arbeitete für die Kleine Zeitung, den ORF und als Studienassistent am Institut für Musikwissenschaft in Graz, bevor er 1990 zum Intendanten der Styriarte bestellt wurde – eine Funktion, die er bis heute mit großem Engagement innehat.
