Marco Ambrosini

The violinist, violist and composer from Forlì, Italy, is considered a leading virtuoso on the Swedish key fiddle, called nyckelharpa. In addition to award-winning excursions into the world of jazz, his stylistic home is in Early Music, which he explores as a member of the most renowned ensembles (including Oni Wytars since 1983).

Career

Born in 1964 in Forlí (Italy), he studied violin and viola, music theory, music history and composition in Ancona and Pesaro. In addition to the "Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana", he has played in numerous chamber orchestras and ensembles for early, baroque and contemporary music.

Collaboration

In 1982 he founded the international ensemble Oni Wytars with Peter Rabanser. Since 1990 he has performed as a soloist with the Clemencic Consort and since 1991, together with Katharina Dustmann, he has been the artistic director of "Studio Katharco - Sound:Creations".

As a soloist and player of the nyckelharpa, he has performed at the "Alla Scala" theatre in Milan, at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt and at the Philharmonie in Cologne, Berlin and Moscow.

Together with Carlo Rizzo, Jean-Louis Matinier, Valentin Clastrier and Michael Riessler, Ambrosini has also worked intensively in the jazz field and was named Jazz Newcomer 1993 by SWF.

In recent years Ambrosini has taken part in numerous radio, television and CD productions, both as a soloist and as a composer or ensemble member (Oni Wytars, Els Trobadors, Unicorn, Accentus, Clemencic Consort, Armonico Tributo Austria, Ensemble Kapsberger (Rolf Lislevand), Camerata Nordica and others).
