Moritz Weiß Klezmer Trio
Moritz Weiß, Niki Waltersdorfer and Maximilian Kreuzer respectfully bow to the Jewish musical tradition and wrap it in a new garment. In the demanding and energetic pieces of the young trio, Klezmer music is skilfully interwoven with elements of jazz and classical music.
About the Trio
Klezmer neu erzählt
Moritz Weiß, clarinet
Niki Waltersdorfer, guitar, percussion
Maximilian Kreuzer, double bass
Wrapping the traditional sound in a new garment: The three gentlemen Moritz Weiß, Niki Waltersdorfer and Maximilian Kreuzer continue to spin the story of klezmer and retell it in a wonderfully expanded musical language. The virtuoso trio, founded in 2015, builds bridges from the past to the present and, respectfully bowing to the Jewish musical tradition, allows it to meet musical forms and styles of other eras. In the pieces of the young trio, which range from sophisticatedly structured to energetic, klezmer is interwoven in an artistic and multi-layered way with elements of jazz and classical music, among others. The result is a sound whose melodies take hold of the listener with feeling, stimulate the imagination and open wide the door to a new sphere.
