a journey through pubs and on the high seas
NAPAEA is the name of the 5-piece folk-pop band around the East Styrian singer-songwriter Katharina Milchrahm. Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, they tell of home and wanderlust, of growing old and of partying in Irish pubs with earthy voices and refreshing folk.
NAPAEA combine indiefolk with nautical sounds and a bit of punk rock, and present this crossover beast with an unusual instrumentation: guitar, bass, drums, concertina, violin and harmonica promise excitement when NAPAEA take their audience on a journey through pubs and on the high seas.
Since their formation in 2015, NAPAEA have been able to convince audiences at dozens of shows at home and abroad and have earned radio airplay and appearances on major Austrian festival stages. The fact that NAPAEA have already been allowed to play as support for greats like Tim Vantol, Wallis Bird and PJ Bond proves that the folk band is no longer an insider tip. With their debut album "From the City Into the Lake", NAPAEA have created an ode to life and the relentless search for the intangible. Earthy and epic, the Austrian folk band conveys homely images borne of joie de vivre and down-to-earthness, and with "From the City Into the Lake" delivers a satisfying answer to the restlessness of wandering.
