We are looking for young musicians who are still in training or have not yet secured a relevant position after completing their studies.
These are the requirements for your participation:
You are available for the entire production period (July 06 - 12, 2025). You can find the details below.
You are between 16 and 27 years old.
You play one of the following instruments:
Violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute/piccolo/alto flute, oboe/English horn/bass oboe, clarinet/bass clarinet, bassoon/contrabassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone/bass trombone, tuba, euphonium, timpani and percussion, harp, celesta
We offer you:
The opportunity to work with Maestra Mei-Ann Chen and selected coaches, gaining experience in a professional orchestral setting organised by a renowned cultural institution.
The opportunity to experience the orchestra not only as a sound ensemble, but also as a visual space (in collaboration with the artists' collective OchoReSotto, who are designing a light installation for the concert project).
Accommodation and meals for the entire production period as well as a lump-sum payment of EUR 300.

This is how it works:
Make a video application! Your video application must consist of two parts:
Intro part – Tell us about yourself! Who are you? Why do you want to be part of the Styriarte Youth Orchestra?
Musical part – Play all the assigned rehearsal parts and one additional piece of your choice.
The sheet music for the auditions can be found here: Auditions
Your video should be max. 5 minutes long:
approx. 1 minute introduction + approx. 4 minutes of music
Then upload your video to YouTube. Your video must be playable online!
Then send us an email with the link to your video and your personal details (date of birth, email address and phone number).
We don't need letters of recommendation or other documents. Just convince us with your video! 😊
