a dozen motion picture versions to choose from, including Jean Cocteau and Walt Disney
No other fairy-tale from the 18th century has been more popular than “Beauty and the Beast”. The eponymous Broadway musical drew more than 25 million people to theaters worldwide, while movie theaters had a dozen motion picture versions to choose from, including Jean Cocteau and Walt Disney. The story of this most unlikely couple holds a fatal fascination: the beautiful daughter of a tradesman sacrificing everything to marry a man who is a brute. Ultimately, she persists and redeems the enchanted prince behind the beast. Austrian actor Florian Teichtmeister lend his soft, mesmerizing voice to the text from 1756.
The performance lasts 60-70 minutes without an interval.
