A hit journey
Karel Gott, the “golden voice of Prague”, spoke for an entire generation when he sang of his childhood dream: “All the way round the world, my pockets full of money”. Travel was unaffordable for the children of post-war Europe and those in eastern Europe were prevented by the iron grip of the Soviet Union. Pop hits were the answer: Nana Mouskouri with “The White Rose of Athens” and Mieke Telkamp with “Tulips from Amsterdam”. Eddie Luis and Die Gnadenlosen take us on a pop hit trip that goes far beyond the borders of reality.
