What to expect:
Franz Schubert: Piano Quintet in A major, D 667
Songs from “Die schöne Müllerin”, D 795
Die Forelle, D 550, a.o.
“To wander is the miller’s joy” and “The Trout”:
Two of the most cheerful Schubert songs in one program provide for sheer musical pleasure, especially as the “Trout Quintet” is added to the famous Lied. The brilliant tenor Daniel Johannsen and the fantastic fortepiano virtuoso Kristian Bezuidenhout are adept at leading the audience through the Austrian landscapes depicted by Schubert. But beware take note: the angler fishing for the trout in muddy water is in reality a young man fishing for women.
The performance lasts 60-70 minutes without an interval.
