Invitation to the

Opening

The City of Graz and Styriarte cordially invite you to the opening of the Nikolaus Harnoncourt Park in the heart of Smart City Graz (Waagner-Biro-Straße north of the Science Tower and the Helmut List Halle).

The BlechReiz Brass Quintet from Carinthia will be playing pieces of music to mark the opening of this new green space, reminiscent of the major productions that Harnoncourt organised as part of his Styriarte festival in Graz between 1985 and 2015. Music from Monteverdi, Handel, Beethoven, Bizet to George Gershwin. Mathis Huber will tell the stories.

PROGRAMME

Monteverdi: Orfeo, Intrada
Händel: Lascia ch’io pianga from "Rinaldo" (arr. Nico Samitz)
Bizet: Chanson du Toreador from "Carmen" (arr. Walter Barnes)
Gershwin: Summertime from "Porgy and Bess" (arr. Nico Samitz)
Beethoven: Excerpt from the 9th Symphony ("Ode to Joy")

BlechReiz BrassQuintett

Brassband

Here, not only styles are mixed, but also the instruments: In addition to the brass instruments, piano, guitar, accordion and percussion instruments are also used, which help to make the Carinthian brass quintet’s concerts a unique crossover experience.
