In Vladimir Putin’s Russia there would be no place for Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the homosexual outsider, who loved to spend the summer in beautiful Ukraine and who could not imagine Russian music without the West. Andreas Stoehr transforms the Stefaniensaal into a winter’s dream with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1. The young Serb Petar Pejčić expresses Tchaikovsky’s dream of rococo on the cello – a perfect dream of an evening just before Christmas.
After his musical beginnings on the cello in Belgrade, Petar Pejčić moved to Germany at the age of 15 to continue his education at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig. The young cellist is already a laureate of numerous national and international competitions and has given concerts and recitals from Russia to the USA.
Recreation is special in many ways: consisting of musicians whose nationalities range from Japan to Venezuela, most of the members received part of their training in Graz. After its formation in 2002, the collective has played in unique halls such as the Alte Oper Frankfurt and has worked with outstanding conductors.
This conductor’s musical focus is equally on the Baroque, Classical and Classical Modern periods. In addition, Andreas Stoehr devotes himself with great passion to the discovery and revival of opera scores that have not been performed since their time of composition or are considered lost.
