The famous quartet around percussion sovereign Ismael Barrios gives the South American sound cosmos a new home in Styria. As ambassadors of Venezuela's musical tradition, the Cuarteto masters all the exciting rhythms born of the people on the Caribbean coast, above all the world-famous joropo.

Venezuela in Graz
All four - Ismael Barrios, Endrina and Juan Carlos Rosales as well as Mariano Leal - come from Venezuela, but met in Graz.
As their home country is around 8,500 kilometres away from Graz, they formed a quartet so as not to lose their musical roots, which lie in Venezuelan folk music. With cuatro, bandola, flute, cello, drums and bamboo tubes, they present the various traditional Venezuelan rhythms and dances such as joropo, merengue, seis por derecho, vals venezolano and others.
