A concert for the Styriarteʼs 40th birthday
The Styriarte’s 40th birthday is a good reason to celebrate. For four decades the Styrian festivals have been creating a sense of well-being for audiences by providing them with fantastic music in wonderful surroundings in Styria. And just as in 1985, the year it all began, violinist Thomas Zehetmair plays the first notes of the 2025 festival with the Chaconne from Bach’s Partita in D minor. To conclude the anniversary concert, he conducts Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony and, between these two works, he pairs up with viola player Ruth Killius for Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante. However, the Styriarte would not be a festival for our times without a contemporary composer: Flora Geißelbrecht has been commissioned to compose a work for the birthday celebrations.
