Life Story of a Blind Virtuoso

When Maria Theresia Paradis set off on a European tour with her mother in 1783, all connoisseurs of music were amazed by the young woman from Vienna. Though blind from childhood, she seemed more insightful, visionary and powerful in her music than most of her male counterparts. Ragna Schirmer tells the story of the blind virtuoso through her own music, and also works by her teacher Koželuh and the young Beethoven.
