Masterpieces and hair-raising tales

Where could you enjoy Haydn’s string quartets in brighter, more festive and summery surroundings than at Eggenberg Palace? Over a day, two young award-winning string quartets from Salzburg and Frankfurt perform Haydn's greatest masterpieces for four string players, illuminating the Planetary Room with the bright light of his humour and humanity. In all three performances, Gregor Seberg reads from the interviews that the painter Albert Christoph Dies conducted with the ageing Haydn in Vienna – hair-raising tales of mischief from his youth and touching memories of Maria Theresa’s laughter.
