The Austrian group has sold over 50,000 records worldwide. No wonder, because with their mixture of early music, folk and pop, the “Early Music Band” has created a unique sound and given their historical instruments a modern polish.
Nikolaus Newerkla studied music education and piano at the University of Arts in Graz and soon dedicated himself to historical keyboard instruments. As founder and director of the Quadriga Consort, he toured Europe and the USA and made a name for himself internationally as an arranger and publisher.
The magnificent landscapes of Scotland, Ireland and England are places of longing: the vast expanse of the Highlands, the mysterious lakes, the towering rocks and cliffs, the luscious green of the fields and the colourful patterns of the traditional Scottish tartan give rise to strong emotions. And so does the traditional music. With baroque instruments, the Quadriga Consort travels the British Isles, embarks for Ireland with its lively jigs and reels, and ends the musical journey on the banks of Loch Lomond in Scotland.
