Music from the Andes

Ruled by the “Son of the Sun”, the “Sapa Inca”, the Inca Empire encompassed almost a million square kilometres at its greatest extent. The indigenous people of the Andes spread their sun cult across half a continent, without the wheel or draft animals, without iron or writing. Carlos Escobar Pukara, with his panpipes, and his friends recount the story of this lost civilization with an exciting programme of indigenous songs and rhythms honouring the sun god Inti.
