Shows

The Duo Johannes Gugg und Tereza Gugg-Kalábová in barockem Ambiente auf einem Kaminsims sitzend Kalabova & Gugg Piano Duo invite us on a four-handed journey through the most exciting episodes of Romanticism. This captivating love affair brings Dvořák's Slavonic Dances to life, alongside Smetana's Moldau and much more.

Programme

grand orchestral music for four hands

The source of the Moldau bubbles just as beautifully at the piano as in the orchestra: performed four hands, the young Kalabova&Gugg piano duo brings the grandeur of Romantic orchestral music to the Minoritensaal. Alongside Smetana’s Moldau, the programme features Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture – complete with Gaudeamus igitur. Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances are heard in their original, world-conquering form: piano four hands. Schubert’s stormy Lebensstürme and Beethoven’s cheerful variations bring Vienna and Bonn to the keyboard – alongside Prague and Wrocław.

Programme

Music for piano four hands by Beethoven, Schubert (Lebensstürme), Dvořák (Slavonic Dances), Smetana (The Moldau) and more

The performance will last approximately 65 minutes without an interval.

Kalabova & Gugg Piano Duo

The young duo dances across the keys with four hands and enchants with an intimate charm that the Czech-born pianist and the Austrian pianist have cultivated since their youth. With a distinctly familiar musical language and excellent technique, the duo has excelled in countless international competitions, from Prima la musica to the ARD Music Competition to the Schubert Competition in Graz.
