a New Year's concert
Music by Franz Schubert (Stringtrio in B-flat major, D 581) and Antonín Dvořák (Terzetto in c major, op. 74)
Family matters in January: Antonín Dvořák composed his enchanting ‘Terzetto’ for two violins and viola because his mother-in-law was subletting a violin-playing student. It was too difficult for the student, but for the Kreisler Trio Vienna it fits perfectly - just like the string trio by the twenty-year-old Schubert, written for himself and his brothers. In Vienna, of course. A New Year's concert with music by two master musicians who never ran out of ideas.
As one of the most outstanding Austrian chamber music ensembles, the trio honours the violinist and composer Fritz Kreisler with its name. In addition to the classics of string trio literature, the ensemble is also enthusiastic about the music of the 20th and 21st centuries and presents programmes in Vienna and in the Burgenland wine-growing town of Neckenmarkt with its concert series "Edler Klang & feine Weine".
