Content

King of the keyboard meets ethereal creature:

In the concert hall, superstar Franz Liszt was met by mass hysteria. What moved Clara Schumann was the intimacy of the evocative tones of the piano. Ragna Schirmer brings the two together – a summit meeting of Romantic piano music. The magic of the Concert Variations and Sonata in B Minor, Clara’s Lieder and Liszt’s transcriptions really only come into their own when played on an original grand piano of the time, and the one played by Ragna Schirmer is a Wieck, built by Clara’s cousin.
