Mathis Huber, born in Graz in 1958, studied oboe, music education, musicology and history. After working for the Kleine Zeitung newspaper and ORF, as well as serving as a research assistant at the Institute of Musicology in Graz, he was appointed artistic director of the Styriarte in 1990 – a position he continues to hold with great dedication to this day.

Artistic director at Styriarte
Born in Graz in 1958, cultural manager Mathis Huber studied oboe, music education, musicology and history in his hometown. He then worked as a freelance journalist for the Kleine Zeitung newspaper and ORF, while also serving as a research assistant at the Institute of Musicology in Graz. It was in this role that he first came into contact with the Styriarte Festival, which was founded in 1985, as he was responsible for its academic supervision.
In October 1990, he became the Styriarte's new artistic director – a position he still holds today, demonstrating equal measures of commitment and success. Since 2002, he has also been the artistic director of Recreation – Das Orchester. Since 2003, he has organised the Graz Easter Festival PSALM.
