Carl Reinecke: Harp concerto in E minor, op. 182
Engelbert Humperdinck: Suite from “Hänsel und Gretel”
Fairy tales, loved by young and old alike, are as much a part of Christmas as gingerbread and cookies. The recreation Christmas concert presents two story-tellers: Emmanuel Ceysson, French solo harpist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, dips into Leipzig Romantic Carl Reinecke’s big book of fairy tales, while Lithuanian conductor Giedre Šlekytė sides with Hansel and Gretel against the wicked witch.
