In the Graz
Mausoleum,
the Ensemble
Cinquecento
traces the journeys of the emperors with music by Heinrich Isaac, Josquin Desprez and Cristóbal de Morales.
Heinrich Isaac: Missa „Wohlauf, gut Gsell, von hinnen“ Innsbruck, ich muss dich lassen Josquin Desprez: Mille regretz, Ave Maria Cristóbal de Morales: Missa pro defunctis etc.
Founded in Vienna, the ensemble consists of five professional singers from Austria, Belgium, Germany, England and Switzerland, and is one of the leading vocal groups in Europe. Cinquecentoʼs main focus is on the music of the imperial courts of Austria in the 16th century.
Long before the Habsburgs pitched their tents in the Vienna Hofburg, they roamed the country as true "travelling emperors". Always with them: their singers and composers. They tickled the imperial ears with sensuous songs and pious mass chants. The Viennese ensemble Cinquecento invites you to a musical round trip on the paths of the emperors: with Maximilian I in Innsbruck, with Charles V in Brussels, Bologna and Valladolid.
