Content

Music for the Seder evening and beyond

The liberation of an entire people from the darkness of slavery into the light of freedom: this is the story told in the Haggadah, the miraculous tale of the Israelitesʼ exodus from Egypt. Every year at Passover, Jews worldwide commemorate this event and celebrate their peopleʼs freedom with the Seder meal. Timna Brauer sings and plays the traditional songs of the Seder with her trio alongside the paintings of her father, Arik Brauer, who drew lifelong inspiration from the Haggadah. The slaves of North America also dreamed of liberation from slavery in their spirituals, which is why their songs are an essential part of this eveningʼs programme.
