New York, die Stadt, die niemals schläft, war für jüdische Einwanderer „di goldene Medine“ – das Land aus Gold. Hier winkte Miss Liberty mit der Flamme von Freiheit, Hoffnung und Arbeit. Die Straßenbeleuchtung sorgte dafür, dass diese Flamme Manhattan auch nachts hell erleuchtete, wenn sich das Publikum in die Vaudeville-Shows aufmachte mit ihren hinreißenden Songs und ihren packenden Rhythmen. Klezmer-Klarinettist Moritz Weiß holt die pulsierende Energie der New Yorker Nächte nach Graz. Special Guest seines Styrian Klezmore Orchestra ist Lea Kalisch. Sie wird zur Stimme der „Goldenen Zwanziger Jahre“, die man im Big Apple die „Roaring Twenties“ nannte.

Alongside his classical music studies in Vienna, clarinettist and composer Moritz Weiß is dedicated to the world genre of "Klezmer and Yiddish Music". In recent years, the Fürstenfeld native has built up the "Styrian Klezmer Connection" with various ensembles, including the Moritz Weiß Klezmer Trio, the Duo Trenev & Weiß and the Styrian Klezmore Orchestra.

Lea Kalisch

When she decided to conquer the Big Apple, the Zurich singer was just 19 years old. On her way to becoming a modern icon of Jewish culture, Lea Kalisch got a taste of musical theater in New York and now, as Rebbetzin Lea, she skillfully and sophisticatedly mixes different musical styles to create her own pop-electro-ethic sound.
