The Story of Light’s Triumph over Darkness

„Und Gott sprach: Es werde Licht! Und es ward … Licht!!!“ Seit der mächtigste C-Dur-Akkord der Musikgeschichte den Wienern bei der Uraufführung in die Glieder fuhr, hat Haydns „Schöpfung“ die ewige Geschichte vom Sieg des Lichts über die Finsternis wieder und wieder erzählt. Das größte Oratorium der Wiener Klassik ist keine naive Bebilderung der Schöpfungsgeschichte, sondern ein Bekenntniswerk der Aufklärung. Wenn man es so dramatisch anlegt wie Patrick Hahn mit dem Festspiel-Orchester und der Camerata Styria, dann kann es an der Botschaft von Haydns Musik keinen Zweifel geben.

The agile, flawlessly radiant soprano and the infectious enthusiasm of the Ukrainian have delighted Graz opera audiences since 2011 in major roles from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern eras. She has also repeatedly earned acclaim at the Styriarte in productions under Michael Hofstetter, Andrés Orozco Estrada and Andreas Stoehr.

Mario Lerchenberger

The role profile of the tenor, who was born in Villach in 1992, ranges from Claudio Monteverdi and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss. He has worked at the Graz Opera and has been a member of the ensemble at the Semperoper in Dresden since the 2024/25 season. Outside of opera, Mario Lerchenberger can be heard in oratorios and as a lieder singer. Another artistic mainstay is choral conducting.

Camerata Styria

Masters rarely fall from the sky. Camerata Styria has achieved this rare feat under Sebastian Meixner's direction. Since its first concerts in 2020, the year it was founded, the young choir has delighted audiences with the splendour of its sound and dynamic richness.

Sebastian Meixner

The music teacher and computer scientist, whose main instrument is the piano, has a golden touch for leading groups of people in song. He proves this as co-founder of the youth choir nota bene as well as with his brand new ensemble, the Camerata Styria, which he formed from former members of the Landesjugendchor Cantanima.

Styriarte Festival Orchestra

Styriarte's orchestral "Supergroup" is made up of changing international star guests and musicians from the first-class fund of the Recreation orchestra, depending on need and occasion. The orchestra's tuning and choice of instruments follow the historical requirements of the works performed.

Patrick Hahn

Opera composer at the age of twelve, general music director at 26. This very young Graz native is a much-admired phenomenon on the international classical music scene. In addition to fresh charisma and concentrated competence, he is extraordinarily versatile: as a profound accompanist and jazz pianist, Patrick Hahn knows no boundaries.
