Reaching for the Stars

Concert in the Planetary Room followed by a picnic with music in the palace park (only in fair weather).

Franz Schubert, too, reached for the stars. His contemporaries were inclined to underestimate the Viennese Lieder composer with the stocky build. Yet when he set Schiller and Goethe to music, he reached over into the afterlife – into the light of Elysium as well as the darkness of Tartarus. The Planetary Room resounds with some of Schubert’s most moving songs sung by Daniel Johannsen and accompanied by Florian Birsak, as well as two trio intermezzi. Afterwards, at the picnic in the park, Schubert can once again become a singer for the people.

He is undoubtedly one of the most important interpreters of the Lied by Franz Schubert, with which he also delights and touches the Styriarte audience time and again. In addition, his lyric tenor is in demand internationally in oratorio and opera productions.
