Born in Budapest, the coloratura soprano studied classical singing at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, where she later also graduated in lied and oratorio. Since 2018, Anna Ihring has been working and studying at the Vienna State Opera.

The agile, flawlessly radiant soprano and the infectious enthusiasm of the Ukrainian have delighted Graz opera audiences since 2011 in major roles from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern eras. She has also repeatedly earned acclaim at the Styriarte in productions under Michael Hofstetter, Andrés Orozco Estrada and Andreas Stoehr.

The Russian-born soprano studied voice as well as lied, oratorio and concert at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. The award-winning singer celebrated a major personal success in Gerd Kühr's opera "Stallerhof" at the Neue Oper Wien in 2022.

Kristina Miller was born into a family of musicians in Moscow as a piano prodigy. After only a short period of training she had her first performances with orchestra at the age of eight. The award-winning pianist’s foreign tours span several continents and her first CD, released in 2008, was broadcast several times on BBC radio.

The conductor and composer was born in Austria in 1952 and studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Gerd Kühr achieved his international breakthrough in 1988 with the premiere of the opera "Stallerhof" and has since been celebrated for his commissioned works.

Benefizprojekt für die Ukraine

Im Jahr 2003 hat die Styriarte gemeinsam mit der Caritas ein Benefizprojekt in Charkiw finanziert, eine Musikwerkstatt für Straßenkinder. Und 2022 soll es wieder um Musik gehen. Wir wollen mit diesem neuen Benefizprojekt wieder eine Musikausbildungsstätte in Charkiw unterstützen, sobald das eben möglich ist in einer Stadt, die im Moment noch täglich unter Beschuss steht. Es wird um den Ankauf von Instrumenten gehen, von Materialien, die man für eine Musikschule braucht.

Gerd Kühr schreibt für dieses Projekt ein kurzes neues Stück, das das Unbegreifliche reflektiert, einen Krieg mitten in Europa im 21. Jahrhundert. Vier außergewöhnliche Singstimmen und drei Schlagwerker:innen werden es gestalten. Kristina Miller, in Moskau geboren, in Wien und Berlin lebend, bettet diese Uraufführung in transzendente Musik von Bach und Schostakowitsch. Der Kartenertrag aus dem Projekt fließt komplett in den Benefiz-Zweck.

Die künstlerische Einbettung dieses Konzerts in die Stadt Graz übernimmt Oliver Hangl.

In seinen urbanen Interventionen konfrontiert der österreichische Künstler Mensch und Umwelt, verschiebt die Grenzen zwischen physischen und psychischen Räumen und verbindet spielerisch beide Welten. Texte und Zitate rund um die Botschaft des Konzerts aufgreifend, nimmt er diese mit in die Grazer Straßen und Gassen und lässt sie an verschiedenen Stellen auftauchen, zum Pflücken, Ergänzen oder einfach zum Lesen. Graz, 16. bis 18. September 2022.
