Eingebettet in die Weihnachtsgeschichte präsentiert ein ganz besonderes Ensemble traditionelle Gesänge aus Katalonien, Mallorca, der Provence und Sardinien. Da spannt sich der musikalische Bogen von mittelalterlich-meditativen Liedern aus dem berühmten Llibre Vermell de Montserrat über italienische Frottole und spanische Villancicos bis zu temperamentvollen Tarantelle aus Sizilien – und es entsteht ein buntes Bild der Ereignisse um die Heilige Nacht aus der Sicht der Jungfrau Maria, der „Bella Signora“.

Medieval Christmas music from the south of Europe
The performance lasts 60 to 70 minutes and is played without an intermission.
Born in Rome, the specialist for southern Italian vocal techniques first occupied herself with classical singing before turning to jazz music and participating in various orchestral projects. As a singer, musician and dancer, her main interest for many years has been world music with its magical vocalisms and different languages.
The Innsbruck native has specialised in Eastern European, Turkish and Arabic plucked and reed instruments and is intensively involved with European and Mediterranean musical traditions. International concert activity has taken the co-founder of the Oni Wytars ensemble across Europe, as far as Canada and the Far East.
She received her first violin lessons at the age of four and is now a worldwide renowned fiddle player: Susanne Ansorg, born in Germany, devotes herself to the study of instruments and performance practice of the Middle Ages and performs with various ensembles for medieval music around the globe.
The master lute player explored the historical repertoire of his instrument and devotes his heart and soul to the possibilities of combining the lute with ancient and modern sounds. From Arabic melodies to electronic music, Fabio Accurso always provides surprises when it comes to showcasing his instrument.
