Content

the operetta as a pot pourri revue

The relationship between German tourists and their Austrian hosts is a cliché pure and simple: it is enormous fun to watch as communication completely breaks down between the well-to-do, pompous “Piefke”, who has no idea what is going on, and the scoundrels in the hotel business, as charming as they are self-centred. Benatzky’s “White Horse Inn“ is the mother of all comedies about the culture clash between Germans and Austrians, with all-time hits like “Was kann der Sigismund dafür, dass er so schön ist“. All-rounder Sandy Lopicic stages the operetta as a pot pourri revue.
