Laudes Palmarum
share on facebookMedieval Palm Sunday play based on the Laudario di Cortona and the Codex Magliabechiano (14th century)
He wanted a fundamentally different life: renouncing material goods and status. Francis of Assisi was a role model for many of his contemporaries in medieval Italy. Some chose the path of the Franciscan order; others founded lay fraternities in which they conveyed the core message of the Gospel to their fellows by way of simple language and popular songs. Vladimir Ivanoff has reconstructed such a “Palm Sunday Play” about the life and work of Christ: donkey, lambs and palm branches included.
